Mark wanted to impress his parents by cooking a traditional Italian lasagna from scratch. He bought the finest cheese, fresh tomatoes, and expensive herbs. He spent all afternoon in the kitchen, following a complicated recipe he found online. However, Mark was not an experienced cook. He accidentally used salt instead of sugar in the tomato sauce, and he forgot to set a timer for the oven.
While he was cleaning the kitchen, he heard a loud beep. Suddenly, thick black smoke started coming out of the oven. The lasagna was completely burnt! Just then, his parents arrived at the front door. Mark felt embarrassed and disappointed. Luckily, his parents only laughed and said they preferred ordering pizza anyway.
They spent the evening eating pepperoni pizza and sharing stories. Mark realized that a perfect meal isn't about the food, but about the people you share it with. He promised to practice his cooking skills before trying a difficult recipe again.
